Integration is an essential element in ensuring the flow of life. The flow of events comes to a halt whenever something appears in it that cannot be integrated. The principle of the conditioned mind is based on judgment, so the mind always has a problem integrating something.
Something is either right or wrong, good or bad. These dual distinctions make it difficult to accept what appears to be wrong or bad. The inability to integrate creates separation and struggle. Therefore, the task is to reintegrate what has been separated.
Integration is the opposite of separation. It is a matter of the heart. It takes mindful presence to recognize what has been separated and to open the heart to it. It is in this opening that connection through integration occurs. Whether it is a feeling or a situation that needs to be integrated, integration makes whole what was previously separate.
