26. TRUST

Why should you carry your load when you travel on the train? It carries you and your load, whether you carry it or put it down.”

R. Maharshi

Actually, we already trust life. We trust that we will continue to breathe, that our digestion will continue to work, that our heart will continue to beat.”

David Steindl Rast

Trust is the opposite of control. Controlling life is an extremely stressful, even impossible task, yet we spend so much time doing it, usually without even realizing it. The need to control is usually driven by fear, which demands safety.

Trust means not having to carry your own burden and the weight of the world alone. Trust in life relieves this tension. Trust comes naturally when you realize the rich nature of life, its infinite pool of possibilities and surprising twists and turns that you could never have foreseen.
