The Wise archetype is usually an impartial observer who bases his judgments and opinions on thorough research and experience. He is primarily concerned with truth. Truth, along with beauty and goodness, has always been a part of philosophical contemplation.
The archetype of the Sage represents a deep understanding of human nature and the ability to communicate that understanding to others. Sages are able to use their experience and knowledge from years of learning to help others understand themselves and their purpose in life, and to find creative solutions to problems.
The journey of the wise is one of constant self-reflection to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of things. The archetype of the Sage is constantly searching and is therefore an eternal learner and student of the great questions of humanity: Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?
