“Everyone always thinks they are right.”
Sagmeister/Walsh
Is the image on the card a rabbit or a duck? We live in a dual world. Everything has its opposite. Day has night, light has shadow, and one would not exist without the other. There is an art to dealing with ambiguity and contradiction. Ambiguity tolerance is the ability to tolerate ambiguity.
When opinion is pitted against opinion, it often means a battle in which everyone thinks they are right. Once you have drawn this card, it is a matter of checking the exclusivity of your own opinion and considering that other opinions on the same subject might also be relevant.
Tolerance of ambiguity means being able to tolerate opposites and contradictions in order to arrive at an overarching truth. When you are the space in which opposites are allowed to be as they are, you grow beyond your own small world into the larger common world.
